Standing on the back deck of the F/V Wildfish in Bristol Bay last week, CVN advertising director Jasmine Taylor told me she was cutting out marijuana advertisements out of 300 odd editions of last week’s CVN after staff from the post office warned her we would be in violation of federal law should we mail the newspapers.

Since then, streams of local subscribers have been flowing into the office this week to pick up their copy. We want to thank everyone for the patience with this issue. Marijuana advertising is murky and we’re still coming up with a plan for how to address the issue. Rest assured future editions will be delivered as they always have-straight to your P.O. box.

After a little research, it’s my understanding the state is in the process of refining regulations regarding marijuana advertising and we’ll standby until a final decision is made.

Thank you Jasmine, Jenny-Marie and Natalie for laboring over scissors and newspapers last week in my absence. You made the right call.

For those of you who are wondering why your papers didn’t make it into your PO boxes, I hope this explains it. Please drop by the CVN office and we’ll make sure to get a copy in your hands.

I’m told the incident made national news. I hope Winter Greens’ advertising investment will pay off.

Make sure you hold on to last week’s newspaper. It’s a souvenir now.

Again, thanks for everyone’s patience and good humor.
