A man, who hit another person’s dog with a stick after his dog and another fought on Comstock Road, told police the other person threatened him.
Police helped a Deishu Drive resident into her apartment after she locked herself out.
A Deishu Drive resident asked for more patrols due to vehicles speeding through the area. The woman called back to report the patrols worked.
Two men came to the police station on separate occasions to register as sex offenders.
A caller reported two people walked through his yard on Dalton Street and stole grass clippers. Police interviewed all people involved but couldn’t find the clippers.
Sunday, July 21
Police helped wildlife troopers in an investigation of unauthorized subsistence fishing. Troopers cited a man for fishing in a closed area.
A woman reported someone had broken her window screen, but investigation revealed her dog had jumped through the screen.
A caller reported a possible fire in the Cathedral View Subdivision. A fireman investigated and determined the caller had seen fog.
A person who had been out of town for several weeks returned to find items stolen from their car on Union Street. Police believe the theft is related to a June incident in which dozens of cars were burgled downtown.
A person requested a welfare check on a relative who hadn’t been in contact since going on a camping trip. Police found the relative at a friend’s house, fine.
A traffic stop resulted in a warning for speeding.
Saturday, July 20
A person sought help finding an employee who had been out drinking hard the night before and had not showed up to work on time. The employee was found “happy and healthy.”
State road crews were notified of a tree blocking the road near Mile 30.5 Haines Highway.
A vehicle accident occurred on Main Street resulting in less than $1,000 in damage. No citations were issued.
Police forwarded a 911 call to the Skagway Police Department after a caller reported his boat was pulling into the Skagway boat harbor with a person with a broken leg on board.
A caller asked police to make sure no one was inside a metal garage on which a tree had fallen. An officer determined no one was injured.
A traffic stop resulted in a warning for a turn signal violation.
Friday, July 19
Public works was advised of a call about blood stains on playground equipment at Tlingit Park.
Police initiated a case against a man who had grabbed a woman’s baby while walking near Totem Street. The intoxicated man approached the woman, imploring her to pet his dog, and reached out to grab her baby.
A Young Road resident reported setting fire to a can with an unknown substance leaking from it. Fire personnel and police responded and determined the substance was paint.
Police served a protective order.
A traffic stop resulted in a citation for a broken windshield obstructing view.
Thursday, July 18
An out-of-town caller reported a person texting false information about the health and well-being of a dog. Police are investigating.
A person reported a bicycle stolen from the Port Chilkoot Dock. It was found in bushes nearby.
A caller reported a loud dispute in the parking lot of a business near 0 Mile Haines Highway. Police responded and separated the people.
Wednesday, July 17
Police assisted with a welfare check on an intoxicated woman near 23 Mile Haines Highway. Police located the woman, who was under the care of a friend.
Fishermen towed a whale into Letnikof Harbor that had become entangled in a net. Troopers, the Coast Guard and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration personnel were on the way to investigate when local responders reported the whale had been freed and appeared unharmed.
A caller reported seeing an eagle swimming in Letnikof Cove that was unable to fly once ashore. The eagle foundation was contacted and advised eagles can take an hour to dry before flying. The caller reported the eagle had flown away.
A horse was reported loose near 2 Mile Haines Highway. The owner was contacted and said the horse would be put back in the stable.
Police received a court order to help a person evict a man from a Mosquito Lake residence.
A caller expressed concern that a Mosquito Lake resident would react aggressively if forcibly evicted from a foreclosed home.
An intoxicated man was taken into protective custody on Totem Street.
Tuesday, July 16
Police helped clarify a custody arrangement for a divorced couple engaged in a custody dispute.
A woman reported a domestic violence assault that occurred on June 4 in Haines. A man had allegedly broken the woman’s collarbone. Police initiated a case.
A caller reported juveniles jumping off the Port Chilkoot Dock. Police responded but were unable to locate them.
Dispatch received 14 medical calls and three canine calls.
