The 21st Annual Hospice of Haines Rummage Sale was once again the ultimate collaborative effort of volunteers, generous donors and shoppers. This year’s impressive total of $14,769 helps us support our care-giving services.

Thank you, Cindy Buxton, who organized the 75 volunteers who worked over 500 hours. Please know we are grateful to all. There is a core group of individuals who spent their entire weekend helping at the sale: Mardell Gunn, Diz Kistler, Carol Duis, Tim McDonough, Kip Kermoian, Mark Battaion, and Jean Smith sorted, hauled, lifted and carried for 20-30 hours each!

Thank you to the Southeast Alaska State Fair for the perfect location. Thanks to the ANB Hall, Haines Home Building Supply, Howser’s IGA, the Presbyterian Church, the Chilkat Center, Lutak Lumber and Southeast Roadbuilders for donated materials and vehicles. At the end of our sale we try to redistribute unwanted items for recycling but our sale wouldn’t be as profitable without the generosity of Community Waste Solutions who support hospice by taking the large amount of unwanted items.

Our one regret is that we had to close down the donations early on Friday due to an unprecedented amount of donations to sort. We apologize to those who loaded their vehicles and were turned away.

On behalf of the board and staff and those who receive our services, thanks again to all for this year’s successful sale.
