A caller reported that a man used his boat to ram the caller’s boat at the boat harbor. The incident was investigated by the police and harbormaster. No charges were filed.
Bikes reported stolen from the ferry terminal were found at another location and determined the owner misunderstood where they’d been left.
A caller reported an abandoned RV at 4 Mile Lutak Road. Police investigated and found the RV gone.
A caller reported people in front of a business at 1 Mile Haines Highway at 12:30 p.m., trying to pry open windows. The people said they were working for the owner.
A caller reported a skiff filling with water at Letnikof Cove. The harbormaster determined there was no danger.
A caller requested police escort to retrieve belongings from a residence, and was referred to civil court.
An RV park reported that a driver who was asked to leave was cruising the parking lot.
Saturday, Sept. 1
A vehicle drove off Lutak Road near Picture Point. The driver was treated by ambulance crew and taken to the clinic.
Children playing on a large dirt pile at the public works shop were told by police to leave.
A caller reported hearing a gunshot near Piedad Road. Police were unable to determine if it was a gunshot.
Friday, Aug. 31
A theft was reported on Menaker Road, but the complainant later determined their neighbor had borrowed the items.
A bear was reported frequenting a residential porch at 1 Mile Haines Highway.
A traffic stop brought a warning for an inoperative headlight.
Thursday, Aug. 30
Police received a report of a vehicle in the roadway on Third Avenue. Police determined it belonged to a state worker involved in road construction.
Three bears were reported at the golf course at 2 Mile Haines Highway.
A caller requested help involving a possible trespass.
A Chilkat State Park Road resident reported killing two bear cubs that had entered his garage and boat. Police said they believed the bears to be surviving progeny of a brown bear sow killed after breaking into structures around Letnikof Estates subdivision.
A man sought help after being locked out of his car by a puppy inside. The man was directed to businesses in town capable of assisting.
Wednesday, Aug. 29
A Letnikof Cove resident reported seeing two bear cubs..
Callers on Oslund Drive and Young and Allen roads reported seeing three, small bear cubs.
A caller dialed 911 to report a dog stuck under the fuel dock. The caller called back to report they’d mistaken an otter for a dog.
A caller reported an identity theft. The caller had been notified by their bank that someone had applied for a credit card in his name.
The Haines Animal Rescue Kennel initiated an investigation after a dog bit a man at the harbor.
Tuesday, Aug. 28
State road crews were advised of a mud slide reported at 20.5 Mile Haines Highway.
A borough employee requested extra patrols around the cemetery, where grass recently was seeded.
There were 27 medical calls and three calls about bears.
