A person reported a large boulder on the shoulder of .5 Mile Lutak Road. Police were unable to move the rock, so state road crews were advised.
A caller reported seeing two large burn piles near 8 Mile Haines Highway. The burns were controlled, permitted burns.
Sunday, April 6
A caller reported a vehicle stopped in traffic on Major Road. An officer responded and determined the person was refueling the car.
A person came to the department to report he had seen juveniles put a sticker on a road sign on Main Street. An officer contacted the juveniles, who agreed to remove the sticker.
Saturday, April 5
A person reported two vehicles drag-racing on Front Street. An officer responded but didn’t locate the vehicles.
A caller reported her vehicle broke down near 20 Mile Haines Highway. She said the car would be moved in a few days.
A Mathias Avenue resident said she didn’t agree with the police chief’s comments about fuel thefts, since she had a lot of break-ins and fuel oil stolen in the past year.
A caller reported a red truck driving in an unsafe manner along West Fair Drive. An officer responded but didn’t find the vehicle. The same person called back later to report the same vehicle was on Major Road. An officer responded and gave the driver a warning for unsafe driving.
A person reported a suspicious vehicle parked at the end of Oceanview Drive near a home the caller was watching while the owners were away. The vehicle was only there for a short time and the caller couldn’t provide a license plate number.
A caller reported her vehicle broke down on Main Street and said it would be towed on the ferry Monday.
Traffic stops resulted in warnings for unsafe driving and failure to use headlights.
Friday, April 4
An Old Haines Highway resident asked for an explanation regarding an ongoing issue she is having with another person. She sought a police escort for retrieving a belonging from the person’s apartment. As it was 2:15 a.m., she was asked to wait until the morning.
Police issued a citation to a vehicle parked illegally on Main Street and Second Avenue.
A caller reported a helicopter had repeatedly been flying over her residence near 4 Mile Haines Highway toward Young Road. She was advised to contact the FAA.
A caller reported a suspicious vehicle with red and blue lights and blacked out windows driving around the Haines area. Troopers said the vehicle was a government vehicle going from Anchorage to Juneau.
A person gave a weapon to police for safe keeping.
A liquor store employee on Haines Highway asked for help dealing with an intoxicated person trying to buy liquor. Police were told the store wouldn’t be selling alcohol to the person in the future. Police helped the intoxicated person get a taxi home.
Police received a protective order to be served on a Haines man.
Police contacted several people having a campfire on the beach at Carr’s Cove. Troopers reported alcohol was involved, though everyone was over 21 and they had established designated drivers. They were warned further complaints would result in police action.
Thursday, April 3
Police removed rocks that had fallen on Lutak Road.
A caller expressed concern for a resident of Dusty Trails due to an ongoing personal issue. Police contacted both parties and determined no crimes had been committed. Officers recommended a course of action to prevent further conflicts.
A caller asked for help retrieving belongings from a residence. Arrangements had already been made.
A person reported students on the high school track team training near the school parking lot in a manner that created a property damage risk. Police spoke to the students and agreed to change locations for shot-put practice.
A person reported a vehicle accident at 7 Mile Haines Highway involving a woman with unknown injuries. Troopers, fire and ambulance personnel responded.

A 911 caller reported a domestic dispute at a Helm’s Loop residence, but the phone got disconnected. Police responded and determined the situation was fine.
A person asked police to conduct a welfare check on a woman who was acting strangely at the Small Boat Harbor. Police responded and found the woman was causing no harm.
Tuesday, April 1
Borough staff reported unauthorized use of trash collection facilities at the Small Boat Harbor. Investigation is ongoing.
A local business reported a fraudulent transaction. Police initiated a case.
Dispatch received six medical calls and two canine calls.
