Monday, March 31

     A caller reported suspicious activity on Deishu Drive regarding drugs. Police took a statement.

     A person reported vehicles driving fast in front of the Head Start building on First Avenue and requested extra patrols.

            A caller reported excessive noise coming from a street sweeper in the Black Bear Trailer Court area.

    A 911 hang-up call was traced and found that the caller was distressed due to a domestic violence dispute involving alcohol on Lynnview Drive. Police responded and determined the situation was safe.

Sunday, March 30

   A woman complained a person was trying to sell property she had stored at the person’s residence when she moved out of state. An officer confirmed the property was being advertised. The seller said the property had been abandoned three years ago. The officer told the person not to sell the property until a court could settle the matter.

    A caller reported a large rock in the middle of Lutak Road. State road crews were advised.

   A caller requested help from the Haines Animal Rescue Kennel for an injured cat. HARK was advised.

Saturday, March 29

   A caller reported her vehicle had been damaged while parked at the pool. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

     A person reported a group of juveniles on the runway at the airport. An officer responded and warned them to stay off the runway.

      A man reported a car accident on Tower Road. Investigation revealed one of the drivers was intoxicated and an officer arrested the man for driving under the influence. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at more than $2,000.

  A traffic stop resulted in a warning for speeding.

Friday, March 28

  The Skagway Police Department advised police that a suspicious person appeared to be on the way to Haines. Information was emailed to police personnel and troopers. Police wouldn’t release further information.

 A caller at a local agency reported a possible child abuse situation in Haines. Police started an investigation.

 A caller reported a campfire and camper on the beach near Front Street. Police advised the camper was not breaking any laws.

    A person came to the station to report concerns about a divorce case. Police informed the man of the laws regarding the situation.

   A Beach Road resident reported an RV had been parked in his driveway since last fall without his permission. Police contacted the local tow company, which was to tow the vehicle at the owner’s expense.

Thursday, March 27

 A Mosquito Lake area resident reported a helicopter flew over her house and was headed toward the Four Winds subdivision. Police provided a number for the FAA and said a report had been made.

  A man reported a gray pickup truck nearly hit him while he was walking near the intersection of Mission Street and the Old Haines Highway. Police were unable to locate the truck.

  Police provided traffic control for the Choose Respect march on Main Street.

   Police helped a driver get home after issuing a written warning for a defective brake light.

Wednesday, March 26

   A caller reported what appeared to be a drunk driver on Lutak Road who was swerving. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

   A Haines resident asked police to help educate a child about behavior and consequences. Police told the caller to contact Children’s Services for advice.

Tuesday, March 25

   A caller reported a fire on the beach on Front Street. The fire chief responded and contacted the camper, who was using the fire to stay warm.

   A caller reported a large grass fire on Mud Bay Road near Carr’s Cove. Fire personnel, troopers and police responded.

  A person reported children riding bikes on the docks at the Small Boat Harbor and looking into boats.

  A traffic stop resulted in a warning for speeding and a defective brake light.

   Police received eight medical calls and two canine calls.
