Dispatch provided contact information to a person trying to get in touch with troopers regarding a relative who was recently arrested and transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Facility in Juneau.
A person reported a four-wheeler on the Mud Bay flats. Troopers were advised.
Sunday, May 12
Public works was advised of a downed stop sign on Fair Drive.
A caller reported a recreational vehicle parked on the curb in front of a downtown business. Police were unable to contact the owner and left a written warning on the vehicle.
Police issued accident reports to two drivers when a vehicle was struck by another while making a turn at the Haines Highway and Second Avenue intersection. No injuries were reported.
Two traffic stops resulted in verbal warnings for failure to maintain a safe speed and an illegal U-turn.
Saturday, May 11
A local motel requested police respond to a domestic dispute in one of its rooms. Police responded and determined the couple in question had been arguing but no violence had occurred.
A health care agency requested assistance picking up a wheelchair-bound individual from the ferry terminal. An ambulance driver was contacted to assist.
Dispatch put a caller seeking information on how to properly seal a bear skin in touch with a wildlife trooper.
A man reported being threatened by two other men while walking around town. The man did not provide specifics about the threat. Police advised the man on how to obtain a protective order.
A caller reported an illegally parked vehicle on Main Street. Police investigated and determined the vehicle had moved after loading groceries.
A caller reported a domestic dispute involving a juvenile on Small Tracts Road. Police responded and determined there had been loud yelling and arguing, but nothing criminal. Information was forwarded to child services.
A traffic stop resulted in a verbal warning for speeding.
Friday, May 10
Police investigated reports of multiple gunshots on Sunshine Avenue, but were unable to locate the source.
Several skateboarders were reported weaving in and out of traffic and gesturing rudely at motorists on Main Street. Police issued a citation to one man for unlawful use of a skateboard.
A caller requested assistance contacting Fish and Game regarding an injured sea lion near Kochu Island.
State road crews were advised of a slow, in-progress snow slide at 18 Mile Haines Highway.
Thursday, May 9
Two males were reportedly intoxicated and trespassing on the Port Chilkoot Dock pier. Police responded and cited the men for trespassing.
A caller reported a horse in the roadway at 3 Mile Haines Highway. Police responded and found the horse had been placed back in its stall by the responsible party.
A borough employee reported a vehicle had been parked in the boat harbor parking lot for two months. The owner was contacted and the vehicle was moved.
A caller reported locks had been placed on his doors without his permission and he wished to press trespassing charges. Police determined the matter involved foreclosure and directed the man to pursue it through civil courts.
An air traffic controller reported a plane that was supposed to land in Haines had not closed its flight plan. Police determined there was a communication error and the plane had landed in Haines as planned.
A traffic stop resulted in a verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign.
Wednesday, May 8
A person reported an abandoned vehicle at the fairgrounds. Police contacted the owner.
Police assisted troopers in service of a felony arrest warrant on a man near Mud Bay Road. The suspect was wanted for aggravated murder in Utah and will be extradited.
Police conducted a welfare check on a parent and child on behalf of another agency.
Police assisted in traffic control on the Haines Highway near Allen Road while the highway was closed for several minutes so a cable could be restrung across the roadway.
A woman called police to report her daughter had expressed suicidal thoughts. Officers talked to the daughter and put her in contact with a counselor.

Tuesday, May 7
A caller reported a person had kicked in a trailer door on Fourth Avenue. Police determined the person was a family member and no one was interested in pressing charges.
A borough employee reported a message had been left on the borough’s answering machine regarding skateboarders in the skate park at 2 a.m.
A woman reported a vehicle accident at 17 Mile Haines Highway. The woman said her vehicle struck a large piece of wood that had rolled out of the back of an in-bound vehicle. She estimated damage at $3,000.
A traffic stop resulted in a verbal warning for a defective taillight.
