A 17 Mile Haines Highway resident reported someone was walking around his house taking pictures. Haines Borough assessors are working on assessing properties out the highway, but they were not in the area at the time. Troopers were advised.

A person reported a bear entered a coop and killed chickens on Piedad Road. The person also notified Fish and Game.

A caller reported not receiving a paycheck from her employer. She was referred to the court.

An anonymous caller reported someone placing a bag of trash in the Port Chilkoot Dock dumpster. Police were advised, but as the caller was anonymous, no further action was taken.

A person asked police to perform a welfare check. Police checked and told the caller the person was out of town.

A business reported finding a hypodermic needle. Police responded and placed the needle in a hazmat container.

A caller reported vehicle registration violations.

A caller reported someone had entered his apartment through a window while he was at work and moved items around. Nothing was taken.

Sunday, Aug. 9

Police received a 911 call from Wrangell. The caller was given the phone number for the Wrangell Police Department.

An anonymous caller reported a person trespassing at 7 Mile Haines Highway. Troopers responded but the person was gone.

A caller reported an unattended fire on Mud Bay Road. Fire crews responded and put out the fire.

A person reported an injured raven at a trailer park near 1 Mile Haines Highway. The American Bald Eagle Foundation responded.

A person turned in a set of keys found at Chilkoot Lake.

A person reported a bear getting into the dumpster at the Chilkoot Estates subdivision.

Saturday, Aug. 8

A person turned in a credit card at the station.

A man reported his juvenile son was a runaway in Washington. Police contacted appropriate agencies and initiated a case.

A caller reported she pulled out in front of a vehicle because excessive brush obscured her view on the corner of Allen Road and Union Street. State road crews were advised.

Friday, Aug. 7

A man reported seeing a truck parked in the middle of Main Street. The driver was apparently waiting on an intoxicated man who was sitting on a bench. The caller was unsure if there was a domestic dispute happening. There were no more calls or reports, and the vehicle left the scene.

A caller on Chilkat State Park Road reported a vehicle was blocking the road and making it impassable for emergency vehicles. Troopers were advised.

A caller reported a large fire at 2.5 Mile Haines Highway. The fire was an authorized controlled burn. Fire personnel were advised.

A caller reported juveniles without helmets riding ATVs behind Allen Road residences. Officers were advised.

Thursday, Aug. 6

A business reported tourists and other businesses were parking large vehicles in front of their Second Avenue business and blocking visibility of their storefront. The caller said owners of the vehicles were exceeding the two-hour parking limit and erecting illegal signs. Police spoke with the complainant and gathered details about the problem to determine what borough department could address the issue.

A person turned in a wallet found near the border.

Two callers reported teenagers riding ATVs around North Sawmill, Sunshine and Piedad roads. Police responded but didn’t locate the teenagers.

Wednesday, Aug. 5

A Main Street business owner reported a Second Avenue business owner had removed traffic cones from a work site and placed them in a parking spot to reserve it. Police contacted the business, determined the cones belonged to them and had them removed.

A caller reported two suspicious men were on her Skyline Drive property “looking for someone.” They left the area. Officers were advised.

Police arrested a 31-year-old woman on a Montana warrant for felony probation violation.

A caller reported a possible drunk driver leaving a downtown bar. Police found the vehicle parked and unoccupied on Deishu Drive.

An anonymous and apparently intoxicated 911 caller reported a woman was driving from town to 31 Mile Haines Highway in a green pick-up truck. Police responded but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Tuesday, Aug. 4

A caller reported an unknown juvenile has been turning the water on in her attic. She requested extra patrols.

An apartment manager asked police for help removing a trespasser. Police responded but the person had left.

A Juneau business asked for help locating a Haines resident who paid for services with a canceled check. Police contacted the Haines resident and asked them to contact the business. Both parties were referred to the court.

A person turned in a wallet found on Soap Suds Alley.

A caller reported an injured bird at the Port Chilkoot Dock. The American Bald Eagle Foundation was advised.
