An overdue hunter was located on Sullivan Island Tuesday after spending a night outside without gear.

A Nixle notification was sent at 8 a.m. Tuesday for Search and Rescue to meet at the Haines Fuel Dock to help in the search for Haines local Frank Hickman, who was reported missing by his hunting partners Monday evening. Sullivan Island, 13 miles south of Haines, is a popular deer hunting location.

According to the Alaska State Troopers, two SEADOGS teams, several good Samaritan volunteers, the United States Coast Guard, Juneau Mountain Rescue, the Haines Search and Rescue Team and the Alaska Wildlife Trooper responded to the call.

Hickman was found walking on a beach at around 8:30 a.m. He refused medical attention and was transported back to Haines.

Hickman could not be reached for comment this week.
