The Alaska Municipal League Summer Legislative Conference will bring about 100 people to Haines next week to discuss the state’s recent legislative session and how to prepare for the next year.
AML is a statewide nonprofit organization that advocates and provides trainings for local governments and builds partnerships between municipalities.
At the annual conference, AML members will discuss topics like taxes and policing, begin working on resolutions and set priorities to be finalized at its meeting in November.
A meeting of the Alaska Conference of Mayors and the Alaska Municipal Management Association will coincide with the conference on Aug. 16, meeting at Harriett Hall. Mayor Jan Hill will attend to represent Haines.
Gov. Bill Walker has been invited as a luncheon speaker on Aug. 17.
Haines residents can register for the conference at akml.org.
