An officer recovered a bicycle from a ditch near Kathleen Street. The bike appeared to have been in the ditch for a long time. It was put in storage at the station.

A caller near 1 Mile Haines Highway reported an ATV being driven in a parking lot. The caller said he was concerned the ATV might be stolen. An officer responded and determined the ATV wasn’t stolen.
Saturday, Nov. 1
A person reported bears had overturned the dumpster at the Public Safety Building overnight. Officers and residents cleaned up the trash and secured the dumpster.
A Mud Bay Road resident reported a bear broke into his shed and freezer. Police, troopers, and Fish and Game were notified.
Friday, Oct. 31
A Fourth Avenue resident reported two bears walking up the street. They weren’t presenting an immediate threat. Police, troopers, and Fish and Game were notified.
A Deishu Drive resident reported two bears walking on the street. They weren’t presenting a threat.
A caller reported two bears getting into the dumpster at Dusty Trails.
A resident asked police to attend a court hearing for a domestic violence protective order. An officer responded and stood by.
A caller reported she had placed her name on a “no call” list but was still getting unsolicited calls. The caller was advised to call her service provider.
Police served a domestic violence protective order on a Haines resident.
A daycare provider asked police to conduct a welfare check on a woman who was late picking up her children. Police responded and found the woman had arrived at the daycare.
A man came to the station to report he had seen a possibly injured bald eagle in the road near 15 Mile Haines Highway. The American Bald Eagle Foundation was notified.
A person at a First Avenue business asked for help relaying a message to an employee. The message was relayed.
A person asked police to conduct a welfare check on a woman who was having emotional and physical issues. An officer and medical personnel responded.
A Mud Bay Road resident reported he thought people were breaking into a hotel in the fort. Police responded and found the noise was people repairing a disabled vehicle nearby.
A traffic stop resulted in a warning for speeding.
Thursday, Oct. 30
A caller living near Dalton Street and Fifth Avenue reported a bear making noise near a business. An officer responded but didn’t locate the bear.
A caller living near the intersection of Main Street and Sixth Avenue reported bears at the school dumpster. An officer responded and chased away two bears.
A Battle Road resident reported a $400 firearm stolen from his parked and unlocked vehicle. An officer met with the caller and initiated a case.
A business near the intersection of Third Avenue and Old Haines Highway reported a bear had turned over its dumpster twice that week. Police, troopers, and Fish and Game were notified.
Police turned over personal property to an owner identified in a civil suit.
A Mathias Avenue resident reported children in her attic were burglarizing her on a regular basis. She didn’t want police to respond but wanted the information relayed to the police chief.
Wednesday, Oct. 29
A school bus driver came to the station to report his bus had been passed on a double yellow line while driving on Small Tracts Road. The driver provided a vehicle description and license plate number, but no record was found of the vehicle.
A caller reported a man yelling and pacing up and down Main Street. An officer responded and calmed the man down.
Tuesday, Oct. 28
A caller reported he almost hit a bear while driving on Old Haines Highway in front of the school. Police, troopers, and Fish and Game were notified.
Police received a civil packet to be served on a Haines resident.
A caller reported their child’s $250 bike had been taken from the school. The person called back later to report the bike had been located on Small Tracts Road.
A Dalton Street resident reported a vehicle parked on the street more than 72 hours. An officer responded and the owner agreed to move the vehicle.
