The Foundation for the Chilkat Center for the Arts will host the Summer Solstice Serenade fundraiser 7 p.m. June 18 with classical music from Southeast artists.
Annette Smith said local pianist Nancy Nash will play with Juneau violinist Steve Tada and classical and Broadway vocalist Katie Saunders.
Nash is a longtime piano player and teacher in Haines. She has played with Tada, a member of the Juneau Symphony, several times, including for a past Chilkat Center fundraiser and Juneau’s Empty Chair Project to honor Japanese citizens placed in internment camps during World War II.

Saunders is the granddaughter of Haines’ Mimi Gregg, who was instrumental in starting the Chilkat Center and foundation.
Saunders has performed in opera houses and theaters in Germany, Iceland, Finland, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Her roles in operas include Musetta in LaBoheme, Papagena in the Magic Flute, Eliza in My Fair Lady and the title role in Evita.
“She’s young and vibrant and I think it’s going to be a very beautiful concert,” said Lorrie Dudzik.
