Mayor playing politics with committee

The Mayor is incorrect in her Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee vacancy timeline. As noted in the PRAC minutes, we unanimously approved George Figdor’s reappointment to the committee months ago. Mayor Jan Hill ignored that request. After that reappointment recommendation, we had one empty seat available when Meredith Pochardt resigned, John Brower who had an application on file declined to be reconsidered and Dave Long applied. We then recommended over a month ago that Dave Long be appointed to that seat. Until just recently the Mayor took no action on Dave Long’s appointment.

I feel that Mayor Hill is playing politics with our committee to the detriment of the public process and those serving on our borough’s committees. Her actions assume that people serving on our committees can’t be non-biased and serve the general good will of our community. This action on her part further fuels the “us against them” mentality that is poisoning our country, community and culture.
