Scott Sundberg’s letter on Feb. 16 strongly implies Lynn Canal Conservation involvement in the Parks and Recreation meeting involving winter recreation. In fact, we do not deal with recreation issues.

Our focus is on protecting fish and wildlife populations and their habitats from potential harm caused by: 1) the very predictable acid mine drainage from the proposed Constantine mine, 2) excessive use of rip rap, loss of wetlands, etc. with the Haines Highway realignment, 3) Juneau Access Project, 4) industrial-size clearcuts such as Baby Brown and 5) Sundberg’s heli-ski business.

If some of our members choose to serve on borough boards and committees, then we applaud their sense of community service. If Sundberg feels that borough code is being violated by conflict of interest on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, he should file a formal appeal and thus gain a better understanding of the definition of conflict of interest.
