Multiple callers reported loud explosions on Mud Bay Road. Police responded and found the noise was from an accelerant used to ignite a large burn pile.

A case was initiated for a license plate violation.

Police arrested a 41-year-old woman for driving with a revoked license on Union Street. She was cited and released.

A person reported a vehicle rolled over near 17 Mile Haines Highway. Troopers were advised. The driver was transported by a private party to the clinic for minor injuries.

A caller reported residents had placed boards secured with chains across Lutak Road Spur to slow vehicle traffic. The caller was concerned about damage to his tires. Troopers were advised.

A person reported a young woman was mistreating a dog. The caller was concerned about the treatment of the dog and was told the dog was being trained. The Haines Animal Rescue Kennel was advised.

Saturday, June 27

A caller reported a vehicle speeding on Small Tracts Road. Police were advised.

A caller reported a dispute with a person who had issues with a fire pit and the amount of smoke it was causing near Second Avenue. After discussion, the two people agreed on a better location for the pit.

A Dolphin Street resident reported seeing a bear walking on her lawn toward the beach. Wildlife troopers were advised.

A caller reported hearing loud fireworks in the Fort Seward area. Police told the responsible person to stop.

Friday, June 26

Two callers reported receiving fraudulent calls from a man calling himself David Pearson. The man said he was from the Publisher’s Clearing House and that the callers had won prizes. Police posted a fraud alert to its Facebook page.

A caller reported a potentially suspicious situation on Front Street. Officers were advised.

A person reported a moped parked near a Fourth Avenue trailer. Police investigated and found the trailer was secure.

An FAA Road resident reported people driving recklessly on Mount Riley Road. The caller said it was an ongoing issue.

Thursday, June 25

A caller reported hearing an apparent gunshot in the Fort Seward area. The person called back to report someone said it was from a seal bomb.

A person reported a loud bang in the Fort Seward area. Police said it was a permitted firing of the cannon on the Parade Grounds for a birthday party.

A caller reported his dog had a seizure because of a loud cannon shot. An officer contacted the caller, who was too upset to speak with the officer.

A person reported his vehicle slid into a guardrail after hitting a bump near 6 Mile Lutak Road. An officer responded and a tow company removed the vehicle.

Wednesday, June 24

A caller reported a person yelling at and chasing tourists on Front Street and Main Street. Police responded and gave the man a warning before taking him to his residence.

Tuesday, June 23

A person reported speeding vehicles on Mount Riley Road. Extra patrols were initiated.
