Most of the Upper Lynn Canal voted in favor of Clinton. Statewide, Trump earned about 52 percent of the vote, compared to 37 percent for Clinton.

About 39 percent of registered voters in Haines No. 1 precinct – who voted at the Chilkat Center – went to the polls Tuesday, and about 34 percent of Haines No. 2 precinct voters cast their ballots at the Klehini Valley Fire Department. In total – throughout all of House District 33 – 8,015 votes were cast for the presidential election out of 15,138 registered voters, which equals a 52.95 percent turnout.

Local Libertarian William McCord ran as a write-in candidate against Sam Kito in the race to represent state House District 33, although he was not eligible. There were 281 write-ins votes cast in the district compared to 6,348 votes for Kito.
