The remaining two drug-related charges against a leading Haines marijuana advocate have been reduced to misdemeanors.

The next appearance of Dean “Bear” Lari, 54, in Haines Magistrate Court is Thursday, Nov. 3, on misdemeanor charges of possessing cocaine and methamphetamine, according to court records.

Lari was originally charged with four felony counts – delivering cocaine, possessing cocaine, possessing too many marijuana plants and possessing methamphetamine – following a Haines Police sting operation and a follow-up search of his home. The marijuana and cocaine delivery charges were later dropped, followed by the reduction of the two remaining charges.
