An officer helped a woman whose 3-year-old had locked her out of a Muncaster Road house.
A 16-year-old became lost while hiking on the Mount Riley trail. Dispatch advised troopers, who initiated a search-and-rescue operation. The girl was located by a family member and was safely returned to the road.
A person reported a pothole in the middle of Third Avenue near the library. Borough road crews were advised.
Friday, Jan. 24
Police investigated a report of a parking violation near Second Avenue and Main Street, but determined the vehicle was parked legally.
A person requested a welfare check on a family member who hadn’t been heard from in weeks. Troopers found the man was fine.
A caller asked for help contacting a member of the Haines Volunteer Fire Department. Dispatch relayed a message.
A traffic stop resulted in a warning for a defective taillight.
Thursday, Jan. 23
Police responded to a domestic violence call in the Comstock Road area. Investigation revealed a 32-year-old man had assaulted his mother during an argument. Police arrested the man and charged him with fourth-degree assault. Alcohol was a factor.
A caller reported a boulder in Lutak Road. Borough road crews were advised.
Wednesday, Jan. 22
A caller reported icy road conditions on Deishu Drive. Borough road crews were advised.
A person reported elder abuse. Police couldn’t corroborate any of the complainant’s allegations and referred the call to Adult Protective Services.
Tuesday, Jan. 21
The Juneau Police Department requested help with an investigation involving an alleged protective order violation by a Haines person. An officer interviewed the suspect and determined a crime had not occurred.
A caller reported the theft of several hundred dollars worth of goods from his home on Allen Road in December. He reported small items like pocket knives and sunglasses stolen. An investigation is continuing.
A 911 caller on Mud Bay Road reported being assaulted. Troopers responded and determined no crime had been committed.
