Halloween in Haines will be celebrated with costumes, candy and cobwebs this weekend at spooky festivities across town.
Here’s a breakdown of Halloween-themed events:
Friday –
The annual Trick or Trot 5K Fun Run/Walk will start at 5:30 p.m. at Dalton City on the fairgrounds and finish in the same place at 8 p.m. Come dressed in costume and wear reflective gear or a headlamp. Spend time around a bonfire with hot drinks before and after the race. The entry fee is $10.
Saturday –
The Haines School sixth-graders will host a Halloween-themed spaghetti dinner and dessert auction fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria to benefit UNICEF.
The Uglys of Haines present “Mummy’s Tomb” haunted house from 7 to 9 p.m. at the ANB Hall. The event is free, but donations are welcome.
The Fogcutter Bar is hosting a “scareoke” night starting at 9 p.m. Join DJ Mel in costume for contests and “killer” prizes.
Sunday –
The American Bald Eagle Foundation will host the Bat Bonanza and Halloween Extravaganza, part of its monthly species series, from 4 to 6 p.m. The event will include bat-themed crafts and activities. Admission is free.
Monday –
The Haines High School volleyball team will host the second annual Harvest Festival at 5:30 p.m. at the school. Families can participate in games, prizes, face painting, a cake walk and more. Admission is $5.
