A resident of Piedad Road reported somebody was attempting to break into her house. HPBD responded and found a stray dog trying to get in through the dog door. Dog was taken to HARK.

A caller reported a loose horse on the Haines Highway.

A man was arrested for first-degree burglary.

Saturday, Oct. 1

A caller reported a vagrant sleeping in the shared laundry room in Deishu Drive. HBPD responded, but the man had already left.

A caller reported a male yelling and screaming at Lookout Park. HBPD responded and issued the subject a warning.

A caller reported an intoxicated man in the area of Main Street and Haines Highway. HBPD responded but was unable to locate the subject.

A caller reported a suspicious man on Small Tracts Road. HBPD responded, the subject was gone on arrival.

Friday, Sept. 30

A caller reported a motor home with Yukon license plates hit another vehicle and then left the scene on Second Avenue. HPBD was unable to locate the motor home.

A set of keys with two vehicle keys and a Howser’s Perks Card was turned into the police.

A man was arrested for drunken driving and was released on his own recognizance.

A woman was arrested for drunken driving and was released on her own recognizance.

The owner of a campground on Mud Bay Road reported an unknown person has been staying in the restrooms and boiler room. HBPD was unable to locate the intruder.

Three traffic stops: One resulted in an arrest for drunken driving, no valid operator license, no proof of insurance, failure to register vehicle and violating conditions of release. One resulted in an arrest for drunken driving. One resulted in a warning for obstructing traffic.

Thursday, Sept. 29

A 911 hang-up call was received with no caller ID. No action taken.

A resident of Mud Bay Road reported being harassed. Information logged.

Wednesday, Sept. 28

A caller in the Deishu Drive area reported a neighbor stealing firewood. Officers made contact with subject, and issued a verbal warning.

HBPD assisted Alaska State Troopers to bring a subject with a warrant into custody.

A caller in the Haines area reported they are receiving threatening text messages. Officers advised and spoke with the caller.

Dispatch received a 911 call. Caller advised there was no emergency, and was able to speak freely. Accidental dial.

Tuesday, Sept. 27

A Main Street business reported a theft of approximately $80 in merchandise.

Attempted to serve a citizen with court documents. Unable to locate.

Dispatch received a 911 call. Dispatcher contacted the caller who advised this was a pocket dial.
