A new promotion launching next week will highlight businesses in Fort Seward.
Starting Thursday evening, June 16, “Fort Night” will be similar to downtown’s “First Friday” event, said organizer Nelle Jurgeleit-Greene, who operates Cottage Arts gallery.
“Every business will have a special drink or a discount or something special going on,” Jurgeleit-Greene said this week. “We just want to get people in town over to the fort and to highlight what’s going on here.”
She said she’s planning to have the event once monthly through August. “If turnout’s good, we’ll do it in September, too,” she said.
Jurgeleit-Greene said she would have the bean-bag game “Cornhole” set up beside her store on Portage Street.
Greene said next week’s event also would serve as a “soft grand opening” for Lynn View Mercantile, a new shop located in the former Green Dolphin building.
