A Main Street business employee reported a car had been parking in front of his business overnight, exceeding the parking time limit. The vehicle was moved.

A real estate agent reported tenants were removing appliances and equipment from a rental illegally. Police contacted the owner of the rental.

Multiple callers reported fireworks exploding downtown. Police responded and advised the responsible parties of the borough ordinance prohibiting fireworks in the townsite.

A Haines resident called from Skagway to request a welfare check on a former domestic partner and their child. Police responded and found they were fine.

Friday, April 1

A Lynnview Drive resident reported a nearby home’s front door had been open for several hours. An officer was advised.

A caller asked for information on a child services case. The caller was advised to contact the Office of Children’s Services.

Traffic stops resulted in citations for failure to carry proof of insurance and expired registration, and warnings for failure to stop at a stop sign and inoperable equipment.

An officer advised that a stop sign at Fourth Avenue and Dalton Street was down. The public works department was notified.

A caller reported she believes there is drug activity going on in her neighborhood.

A Beach Road resident reported the game camera at the Battery Point Trail had been removed from the tree where it was mounted and was lying on the ground. The park ranger was advised.

A caller reported receiving a fraudulent call from someone claiming to be with the IRS. The caller also reported the call to the IRS.

A caller reported a motorcycle parked in a handicap zone on Main Street. Police responded and warned the driver.

A Deishu Drive resident reported apartment residents yelling at one another. One of the residents asked for officer assistance. Police responded and arrested a 64-year-old man for fourth-degree assault and assault on a police officer.

Tuesday, March 29

A caller reported people standing over a child lying on the ground at the Haines High School. Police responded and advised everything was fine.

Police advised a citizen not to have firearms in his vehicle while driving past a local school building.

A traffic stop resulted in a warning for speeding.
