An out-of-town caller asked for information on an old protective order. He was advised to contact the magistrate.

A caller reported a horse loose near 4 Mile Haines Highway. Police responded after several failed attempts to contact the owner. Police advised the owners were on-scene trying to wrangle the horse.

A caller on Tower Road complained about someone drinking and driving. Police were advised.

Saturday, March 5

A 911 caller reported a man had broken a window at a Main Street bar. Police investigated.

A motorist reported hitting a moose near 28 Mile Haines Highway. The moose ran up the hill. The vehicle sustained some damage.

Friday, March 4

A Young Road caller reported an apparent drunk driver speeding past his house several times. Police were advised.

A caller reported someone she knew gestured at her in a threatening way while driving. Police were advised.

A caller reported receiving a “weird text message” on her phone. She was advised to contact her service provider.

Thursday, March 3

A nonprofit agency on Small Tracts Road reported the theft of money and signs of an attempted break-in of donation boxes. Police initiated a case.

A caller on Deishu Drive asked for help retrieving keys he gave someone to check his post office box. Police said if the keys weren’t returned the next day they would help find the person.

A caller reported receiving a text from an unknown number about a party at Carr’s Cove. Police were advised.

Wednesday, March 2

A caller reported a suspected violation of a protective order at a Main Street residence. Police responded but were unable to verify the violation.

A caller reported his vehicle broke down on Main Street and said he would move it in the morning.

A person reported finding a set of keys on Oslund Drive.

Tuesday, March 1

A man reported the clutch in his vehicle went out on Small Tracts Road. He asked if a friend could tow the vehicle. Police advised the friend would only be able to tow the vehicle if he or she had the proper equipment. The man said he would move the vehicle in the morning.

A man asked for help obtaining a family member’s firearm. An officer was advised.

A woman reported her ex-husband entered her house without permission to drop off a bag of dog food. An officer responded.

A man came to the station to turn himself in on a warrant he was advised of by his probation officer. An officer arrested the 42-year-old man for a probation violation.

Note: The Haines Borough Police Department has been having trouble accessing its Facebook page to post the blotter. Interim chief Josh Dryden is working on the issue.
