A caller reported Haines Highway was icy from 14 Mile to 22 Mile.

A caller requested assistance in getting hold of a person in Haines for notification of a death in the family. An officer responded.

Saturday, Jan. 1

A caller requested information about crossing the border from Canada to the United States with a U.S. warrant. An officer was advised and told the caller that an arrest would be made upon crossing into the United States.

An officer responded to a Juneau Police Department request for information on a man they had detained who previously lived in Haines.

A caller reported a man standing in the middle of a street downtown, talking to himself. An officer responded, determined the man had a medical issue, and took him home.

State road crews were advised of a call about ice on the Haines Highway past 11 Mile.

Border officers detained a person crossing the border who had an arrest warrant in Alaska. An officer responded and arrested the individual, who was wanted on a 2009 charge for fraudulent use of a credit card. The person said they were crossing the border to respond to the warrant.

Friday, Dec. 31

A caller reported their vehicle would be parked at the ferry terminal a few days. An officer was advised.

Police were advised that a caller reported someone took their cell phone and would not give it back until they paid rent at a Fourth Avenue trailer park.

The phone company was advised of a call that phones at Mosquito Lake were out.

Thursday, Dec. 30

An officer responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a Fourth Avenue trailer park.

A caller reported a forklift slid off Third Avenue. An officer responded and blocked traffic so the forklift could be pulled out of a snowbank.

Customs and state troopers were advised that a motorist from Haines had not arrived in Anchorage.

A caller reported their VHS tape got stuck in their VCR and they were afraid it would start a fire. The caller was advised to unplug the VCR.

Wednesday, Dec. 29

A caller reported their child was receiving disturbing text messages from another youth. An officer responded and contacted the mother of the child sending the messages.

A caller requested that an officer assist them in removing an intoxicated roommate from their Fourth Avenue home. An officer responded, and the roommate spent the night at a friend’s residence.

Tuesday, Dec. 28

A caller reported a vehicle had been parked in a business parking lot and the owner needed to park somewhere else. An officer responded and contacted the owner of the vehicle.

A person requested assistance when they got locked out of their house. The person later called back from inside the house.

Monday, Dec. 27

An officer responded to a one-vehicle accident at 13.5 Mile Haines Highway.

Troopers made a welfare check on an individual at 26.5 Mile Haines Highway. State troopers were advised.

Sunday, Dec. 26

Troopers were advised of a call about reckless snowmachining in Klukwan.

Saturday, Dec. 25

The Haines Ministerial Association supplied accommodation to a woman who sought police help in finding her a place to spend the night.

Friday, Dec. 24

A caller reported a man sleeping in a hallway of a Main Street apartment. The man got up and walked away while the caller was on the phone.

Thursday, Dec. 23

A caller reported tree material in the roadway at the end of Lutak Road. The individual who left the tree material was contacted to clean it up.

Monday, Dec. 20

A caller reported a person violated a protection order. An officer was advised and added the incident to charges already pending and forwarded to a district attorney.

A caller reported a person was threatening to shoot their dog in Klukwan. Troopers were advised.

An officer was advised of a call that a vehicle was parked on their Deishu Drive property, and a property owner wanted it moved.

Sunday, Dec. 19

An officer made a drunken driving arrest at Third Avenue and View Street after observing a person stumble out of a bar before entering a vehicle.

A caller reported a disoriented male walking around outside without a coat near Second Avenue and Old Haines Highway. An officer responded and determined the man had a medical issue. He was taken home.

A caller reported overdue travelers driving from Fairbanks to Haines. State troopers and Royal Canadian Mounted Police were advised. Police determined the travelers already had gone through the border at Dalton Cache on their way to Haines.

Saturday, Dec. 18

A Second Avenue business owner reported an attempted break-in. An officer responded and noted a cracked door.

A caller reported receiving a confusing note on the door of their workplace. State troopers were advised. It was later determined the note had aimed to warn skaters of dangerous ice conditions at Chilkoot Lake.

A caller reported their roommate wants them to move out, and there may be trouble later on at a Fourth Avenue trailer park. An officer responded and told the couple the issue was a civil matter.

Thursday, Dec. 16

A caller reported a chimney fire at Letnikof Estates. Fire department responded for a walkthrough of the property.

Road crews were advised of a call that Beach Road was very icy.

A caller reported concern about hikers who had left a vehicle parked at the end of Young Road for a few days. An officer responded and met the hikers coming out of the woods.

Wednesday, Dec. 15

A caller reported a vehicle at 14 Mile Haines Highway that was a road hazard. A tow truck responded at the owner’s expense.

A caller reported a chimney fire at their residence at 26 Mile Haines Highway. They were able to put it out.

Road crews were advised of a call about icy roads around 8 Mile Haines Highway.

Tuesday, Dec. 14

A caller reported an intoxicated person had parked a vehicle in the middle of the road at 15.5 Mile Haines Highway. Troopers responded, but the person had left the scene.
