Traffic stops resulted in warnings for inoperable headlights/taillights, missing front license plate, failure to use a turn signal, pulling out into oncoming traffic, and citations for failure to carry proof of insurance.

Sunday, Dec. 6

Four traffic stops resulted in warnings for speeding and failure to stop at a stop sign, and a citation for driving without a valid license.

Saturday, Dec. 5

A caller reported hearing gunshots and was advised it was the cannon and fireworks from the Lighting of the Fort event.

A caller reported someone shooting a gun out of a truck window on Young Road. Police investigated and smelled firework residue, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Friday, Dec. 4

A caller reported finding a gas can in the middle of the road near 4 Mile Haines Highway. It was taken to the airport.

A woman reported her adult son had been missing since the previous evening. She was concerned for his mental health condition. Police investigated and found the man, but he was unwilling to speak to police and left the area. His mother was advised.

A caller reported a vehicle stalled on Cemetery Hill. The owner was making attempts to move the vehicle and contacted a tow company.

Thursday, Dec. 3

A caller reported icy roads near the airport. State road crews were advised.

A person reported an item she believed to be stolen from her was being sold.

Several callers asked police to conduct a welfare check on a man regarding a Facebook post he made. Police contacted the man, who seemed fine and refused assistance.

A man reported he was assaulted while drinking at the apartment of a person on Deishu Drive. Police responded to interview the caller, who refused to speak to police. Police were also unable to speak to another person involved. A third person reported nothing had occurred.

A woman reported being locked out of her house by her dog. Police responded to help.

An out-of-town caller asked police to conduct a welfare check on someone driving from Wasilla. The caller later reported making contact with the person.

A man reported a possible weapons violation. An officer was advised.

A caller reported his vehicle slid off the road near 5 Mile Haines Highway due to icy conditions. No injuries were reported. Troopers were advised.

A caller reported a person on Deishu Drive yelling incessantly. The apartment complex manager reported hearing the yelling, which appeared to be part of a phone conversation. There appeared to be no emergency.

Wednesday, Dec. 2

A caller reported a tree across the road near 7 Mile Lutak Road. State road crews were advised.

Three callers reported receiving phone calls stating the IRS would be filing a lawsuit. Police were advised.

A caller reported she lost her keys and as a result was experiencing mail theft and burglaries from her residence.

A person reported two dogs were trying to get into a chicken coop near 1.5 Mile Haines Highway. Police responded and Haines Animal Rescue Kennel was advised. Police contacted the dogs’ owner, who was given a warning for failing to keep the dogs under control.

Two traffic stops resulted in warnings for speeding in a school zone, broken headlight and U-turn.

Tuesday, Dec. 1

A caller asked for help getting an intoxicated person removed from her residence. An officer was advised.

Police notified a resident who was out of town of broken pipes and running water at his residence.

Six traffic stops resulted in warnings for broken headlights, broken taillights, failure to use turn signals and crossing the double yellow lines.
