A Tower Road resident reported $60 worth of hamburger meat missing from her freezer. An officer investigated.
A person came to the station to identify and claim a bike that had been turned in.
A resident brought in a bike found at 7 Mile Haines Highway.
Traffic stops resulted in two citations for failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to carry proof of insurance.
Sunday, Nov. 9
A caller on Deishu Drive reported someone had gotten into his unlocked car and driven it away from the front of his house. The keys were in the vehicle. An officer responded and initiated a case for vehicle theft. The car was found a short time later on the Haines Highway near the airport. The case is under investigation.
A caller reported a teenager driving an ATV without a helmet near the high school. Police responded but were unable to locate the vehicle.
A person reported finding a motorcycle in the brush near his property at 1 Mile Haines Highway. Police responded and found two mini motorbikes that didn’t belong there. Police impounded the bikes.
A Juneau resident called to report he believed family members in Haines were being harassed by another Haines resident. An officer spoke with the caller and told him the family members could call if they felt harassed.
A traffic stop resulted in a warning for speeding.
Saturday, Nov. 8
A caller living across Mud Bay reported seeing a car pull up near their pick-up truck the previous night and a person get into it. They checked the pick-up the next morning but nothing was taken. Troopers were advised.
A caller reported debris on the Haines Highway near Sawmill Road. An officer responded but the debris was gone.
A person reported vehicles driving in city limits with auxiliary lights on. Officers were advised.
A First Avenue resident asked for help with a carbon monoxide detector. The resident called back to say she reset the device.
Friday, Nov. 7
The harbormaster asked police for help with an unauthorized vehicle at Letnikof Cove using harbor facilities without a permit. An officer responded and confirmed the complaint. A citation will be made.
Police conducted a welfare check on a woman near downtown and found she was alert but intoxicated. Police later conducted another welfare check and took the woman into protective custody as she had injured herself. Her injury was treated and she was released later that evening after receiving an evaluation.
A traffic stop resulted in warnings for failure to stop at a stop sign and expired registration.
Thursday, Nov. 6
A Mathias Avenue resident reported a DVD and parts of a coffeemaker were stolen from her property. Officers were advised.
A Mathias Avenue resident reported chasing a bear away from his pick-up and finding the bear had caused about $1,000 in damage to the vehicle. The man said he had a small amount of bear attractant in the vehicle. Police, troopers, and Fish and Game were advised.
A caller reported deer, goat and duck carcasses had been dumped on the beach near the Picture Point pullout. The wildlife trooper investigated and found it was waste product from hunting and the meat had been harvested.
Police conducted a welfare check on a woman on Fourth Avenue after receiving a call from another woman. Police separated the two women and determined no assault had occurred.
A traffic stop resulted in a warning for failure to stop at a stop sign.
Wednesday, Nov. 5
A business owner reported a pick-up truck parked on their property near Second Avenue and Willard Street had ravens getting into garbage stored in the truck. The pick-up’s owner was contacted.
A person on Fourth Avenue reported finding a baby owl. The caller took the owl to the American Bald Eagle Foundation.
Tuesday, Nov. 4
A Haines resident reported she received a phone call from someone asking for personal information regarding Social Security. The caller didn’t provide the person with information but wanted police to be aware of it.
A caller reported a juvenile operating an ATV without headlights near the high school. Police responded but weren’t able to locate the ATV. Another caller reported the ATV on the Haines Highway near Sawmill Road. Officers were again unable to locate the ATV.
A Mathias Avenue resident reported hearing someone trying to break into her home. An officer responded, checked the residence and determined everything was fine.
