A caller reported a bear at the Small Boat Harbor. An officer responded and hazed the bear. Earlier, the bear had gotten into bait storage areas and coolers and damaged several boats.
A person reported a vehicle blocking his driveway. Police responded but the vehicle was gone.
A person reported receiving a phone call from a man claiming he was with the IRS and that warrants had been issued for the person’s arrest. The person was told this was a fraudulent attempt to get money.
An injured bear was reported in a First Avenue driveway. Officers responded but were unable to find the bear.
A fisherman reported he would be armed and spending the night on his boat in the Small Boat Harbor to protect property from a bear.

A caller reported an Internet fraud scam.
A Dalton Street resident reported people making loud noises.
Saturday, Oct. 24
A Haines Highway business owner reported another business was filling in wetlands without proper permits.
A caller reported finding a bank card. The card was returned to its owner.
A woman came to the station to report a dog had attacked her dog on Gruening Avenue.Police took photos of the dog’s wound and contacted the Haines Animal Rescue Kennel. A case was initiated.
A number of callers reported receiving fraudulent phone calls from First National Bank Alaska requesting personal information.
A woman reported locking her keys and infant in a vehicle at Cathedral View. Police contacted a local business that said they could respond in 10 minutes. A person broke a car window instead so the woman could get the child.
A caller reported his car broke down on Main Street but wasn’t blocking traffic. Officers were advised.
Friday, Oct. 23
A person asked for police and medical assistance to Mallot Avenue. He was advised there was no Mallot Avenue in Haines and to check his jurisdiction. He was given the correct number, which was in Yakutat.
A caller reported a brown bear walking toward the harbor. The caller was concerned the bear had previously torn stuff up at the harbor. Police responded and hazed the bear, which retreated to the beach. The caller later reported seeing the bear in the road. Police patrolled the area.
A caller reported to police that a window in a Fort Seward building had been broken and vandals had entered.
A person reported being cut off at the intersection of the Haines Highway and Main Street by a police car that didn’t use a turn signal. Police spoke with the caller.
A caller reported a vehicle in a ditch at 2 Mile Haines Highway. Police responded and found the driver uninjured, but the vehicle requiring a tow.
Thursday, Oct. 22
A caller reported seeing a bear near the Chilkat Valley Preschool. The school was notified and advised to keep the children indoors. Another person reported the bear had been at the harbor the previous evening.
A person reported his credit and debit cards were being used fraudulently.
Police initiated two cases regarding abandoned vehicles at the wastewater treatment plant.
A caller on FAA Road reported a vehicle going 40 mph in a 25 mph zone.
Wednesday, Oct. 21
Police helped Canada Customs perform a background check.
A caller reported a brown bear on First Avenue eating her apples.
A caller on Fourth Avenue reported people playing loud music. Police spoke to the person playing music, who turned it down.
Tuesday, Oct. 20
An out-of-town caller asked dispatch to relay a message to a relative.
The clinic reported a patient came in who had been assaulted. Police initiated a case.
Police received a domestic violence protective order to serve on a Haines resident.
