A Skyline Drive resident reported her van slid off the road and she was waiting for a towing company to open so she could have it moved. No injuries were reported.

A caller reported a forklift working without lights on Main Street. Police responded and found the vehicle operating during daylight hours in an area marked with cones.

Police helped a driver whose vehicle slid into the ditch along Third Avenue. Tow services were contacted.

A man came to the station on behalf of a friend to report a visitor at the friend’s residence in a trailer park was refusing to leave. Police told the visitor to leave and not return. The visitor complied.

Two callers reported a downed tree blocking the road near 9 Mile Haines Highway. State road crews removed the tree.

A traffic stop resulted in a warning for a broken taillight.

Sunday, Dec. 7

An employee of a local business asked for help contacting the bank about mechanical issues involving a key. Dispatch contacted the bank and relayed the information.

A caller reported his vehicle slid through a four-way stop on Main Street due to ice. State road crews were advised.

A caller reported the Haines Highway was slippery with black ice from Miles 44 to 3. State road crews were advised.

Two callers reported icy conditions on Third Avenue. State road crews were advised. An officer responded to the hill and said it was drivable.

Saturday, Dec. 6

A caller reported a possibly drunk driver in the post office parking lot. The caller said they smelled alcohol on the person who parked a silver pick-up truck in the lot. An officer responded but the suspect vehicle was gone.

A person reported she received a threatening and harassing phone call while at a downtown business. An officer responded and spoke with the person making the calls. Investigation revealed both parties had been calling and harassing each other. They were warned to stop or be charged with harassment.

Friday, Dec. 5

A parent of a minor reported suspicious Internet activity involving his child and a male adult. An officer met with the parent and initiated an investigation.

A Piedad Road resident reported footprints in the snow around his home. An officer responded and determined no break-in or theft had occurred.

Police tested a parent for alcohol consumption at the station prior to a supervised visit with their child. The agency supervising the visitation requested the testing.

A 911 caller reported a domestic disturbance near 19 Mile Haines Highway. Troopers and police responded and arrested a man for fourth-degree assault.

A traffic stop resulted in warnings for speeding and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Thursday, Dec. 4

A caller requested the phone number for wildlife troopers in Glennallen

A caller said a woman visiting her child was intoxicated during the visit. The woman had also driven to the location of the visit. An officer responded, interviewed the woman and arrested her for driving under the influence.

Wednesday, Dec. 3

A Mathias Avenue resident reported hearing footsteps in her entryway and asked police to patrol the area. Officers were advised.

A caller reported finding a “gift-type credit card” at Lookout Park near a vehicle with a broken window. Dispatch contacted the vehicle and card owner, who said they had left the vehicle there due to icy conditions. An officer met with the owner and initiated a case for criminal mischief.

An FAA Road resident reported tire tracks and foot prints in the snow near his home and coming up onto his property. An officer interviewed the caller, who requested extra patrols.

A Haines resident driving near the airport called to report a green light descending from the sky and into the Takhin Valley across the river. He believed the light was a comet. Troopers were advised.

An officer arrested a man on Soapsuds Alley for violating conditions of release and driving with a revoked license. The man was jailed and later released on bail.

A caller reported a dark-colored pick-up doing donuts up and down Main Street between Second and Third avenues. The officer on duty was busy with an arrest and unable to respond. The caller came to the station and reported the person was still doing donuts.
