A caller reported someone stole her purse and phone at a local bar. The woman said she didn’t want to press charges, but just wanted her things back. An officer was advised.

The clinic asked police for help contacting Lynn Canal Counseling’s on-call clinician.

A person reported receiving harassing phone calls. An officer met with the person and discussed the circumstances and options available.

Sunday, Sept. 20

A caller asked police to provide a welfare check on a relative. Police responded but the person had just left.

A caller reported people shooting guns near River Road. The caller was advised that as long as they were shooting from below mean high tide, it is not illegal.

Police helped the park ranger execute a search warrant in the Small Tracts Road area related to investigation of an illegal moose kill.

A caller reported an abandoned vehicle in the pits behind the Southeast Alaska State Fairgrounds. An officer was advised.

Saturday, Sept. 19

A person reported pallets had been stolen from behind a Third Avenue business. Police were advised.

An anonymous man reported an aggressive and intoxicated man in a truck in front of a Main Street bar. Police responded and located the man inside another bar, and told him not to drive because he had been drinking. Less than an hour later, a person reported the same truck had hit his vehicle near Sawmill Road. Police chased the truck up the Haines Highway and eventually arrested a 49-year-old man for driving under the influence, driving without a valid operator’s license, failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer, failure to immediately report an accident and reckless driving. An anonymous caller reported witnessing an underage drinker in a Main Street bar. Police were advised.

Friday, Sept. 18

A Mud Bay Road caller reported receiving harassing phone calls late at night. Troopers were advised.

A caller reported a man threatened him and his friend when they walked past the man’s home on Mud Bay Road. Police interviewed the caller.

A motorist reported the vehicle she was test-driving broke down on Third Avenue. Police responded and tagged the vehicle.

A hunter asked for information on reporting a moose he had shot. Troopers were contacted.

A caller reported a suspicious person at Letnikof Cove looking into his vehicle and fleeing when confronted. Troopers were advised and given a description of the vehicle.

A caller reported receiving a fraudulent phone call from a person claiming to represent the Rasmuson Foundation. Police were advised.

A woman came to the station to report a man broke a window and her cell phone during a domestic violence assault. Police arrested a 45-year-old man for criminal mischief.

Thursday, Sept. 17

A caller reported vehicles blocking the right-of-way on Helms Loop Road. Plate information was obtained for both vehicles.

A caller reported a domestic dispute regarding custody of children. Police and the Office of Children’s Services interviewed all parties and the dispute was resolved.

Wednesday, Sept. 16

Police responded to an unattended death on Union Street. A 57-year-old woman was found deceased in her home. Police investigated and found no sign of foul play. The family was notified.

A local agency reported a burglary. Police initiated a case and are investigating.

Tuesday, Sept. 15

A caller at Chilkoot Lake reported her friend was bitten by a dog running loose at the campground. The park ranger was advised.

A caller reported an attempted phone scam. The caller was given the number to the FBI in Anchorage and advised to report it to that agency.
