Saturday, July 23

A caller reported receiving threatening phone calls and text messages. A case was initiated for assault.

A caller reported an abandoned vehicle at the Beach Road turnaround. Officers contacted the owner, who said it was broken down and would be moved in the next few days.

Officers found a mother bear with two cubs at the waterfront along Beach Road and tried to get them to go into the woods.

Friday, July 22

A business requested assistance with a possible bar fight. An officer responded and initiated a case for assault.

Several callers reported a loud argument at a home off Young Road. Officers responded and initiated a case for assault.

A caller reported a bear broke into their car the night before on Small Tracts Road and pulled out several water jugs. The caller said she had a salmon skin in the front seat that might have attracted the bear. The caller also said her neighbor’s smoker had been torn into and the other neighbor’s trash was strewn around.

A caller reported a fire near a campsite on Fourth Avenue. A fire crew responded and extinguished the fire.

A caller reported information about an illegal tour offered without a permit.

U.S. Coast Guard relayed a message from a boater that they saw a large brush fire out Lutak Road. An officer contacted the landowner, who said they were burning 160 acres of brush and the landowner had a current burn permit.

Thursday, July 21

A caller reported several cars speeding up and down Cemetery Hill. Officers were advised to do more patrols in the area.

A business reported a vehicle had been parked in front on the street downtown. The owner was contacted and agreed to move the vehicle.

A caller reported three kids running into traffic next to the track at the school. An officer contacted the kids and told them where they could walk when on the road.

A caller reported a foul-smelling burn on FAA Road. An officer responded and found someone burning their grass on Myra Lane.

A caller reported overflowing trash on Deishu Drive that could attract a bear.

Tuesday, July 19

A caller reported a bear on their property on Small Tracts Road. An officer responded, but the bear was gone.

A caller reported someone left a fire burning at the beach. The fire department responded and extinguished the fire.

A caller reported a bear tore open some recycling bins on Small Tracts Road.

A caller reported loud, revving engines woke him up. An officer responded and found a man working on an older car, but who was by then done for the night.

There were 23 medical calls and two calls about dogs.
