The Haines Borough Assembly continues to flow with indecision regarding establishing a purposeful, inclusive, orderly process for selecting a new police chief. I have urged action in writing and in person since early April. Is their intent to continue the cosmic clouds that have plagued Haines’ public safety and law enforcement for the past year-and-a-half? One short-term police chief, an expensive consultant, the current interim chief, and a half-dozen former officers have signaled a “bimbling” policy of spurious engagement. Hence, Haines citizens find only a transient ghost for law enforcement.

Could it be that we, the citizens, must step forward? Perhaps we should convene our own town hall to assert what we want and deserve. If you support this approach, please feel welcome to phone me at 766-3917.
