Artist Melina Shields explains her work, a portrayal of St. Joseph made with nails, fragments of measuring tape and foam earplugs, to Kelly Mitchell at last week’s First Friday event in the Alaska Arts Confluence office. Shields’ show, “Construct then Deconstruct” is on exhibit at the office. Friday’s event included activities at the Hammer Museum and Sheldon Museum.
