I’m sitting in the rocking chair at the public library, marveling at all that the facility is. It’s a teacher, creative space, classroom, sanctuary, artwork, employer… it is community.
The first image I ever saw of Haines was of this library. It spoke volumes about the community and is what convinced me to move here. Since arriving I have been delighted to learn that the quality of this town is indeed reflected in the esteem of its library. This living building is truly at the heart of the Haines community. It pulses!
National Library Week is a perfect occasion to honor the gift in our midst, and to take time to thank our wonderful library staff, volunteers and contributors for all they do to better our community. Thank you!
