The Haines Borough Assembly’s month-long saga of budget meetings begins at 5:30 p.m. Monday with an overview of the document and discussion of the areawide general fund.
Manager David Sosa released his draft budget for fiscal year 2016 on April 1.
The assembly will discuss the townsite service area fund, Small Boat Harbor, Lutak Dock and Port Chilkoot Dock from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14. It will discuss capital improvement projects, water, sewer, medical service area, fire, land sales, the permanent fund, economic development and tourism, commercial passenger vessel tax and debt service funds from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21.
The budget is set to be introduced at the assembly’s April 28 regular meeting. The document’s first public hearing is set for May 12, and the second public hearing is set for May 26.
The assembly will hold a third public hearing if necessary May 9 and adopt the budget.
