Something is wrong with our borough administration. They want to spend $52,000 for a helicopter noise study that no one wants or needs, the results of which will do absolutely nothing to assist the borough in managing helicopter tourism. The findings of the study, whatever they may be, will drop into a file cabinet and never be seen again. To put that price tag in perspective – $52,000 would pay for heat and electricity at the Mosquito Lake School for two years. The borough administration is willing to bend over backwards for a private enterprise of limited local economic benefit, while at the same time moving to sell a public school building that has served this community for 30 years. What kind of an economic development philosophy justifies this? Apparently, it is more important to use your tax dollars to subsidize the ski runs of wealthy visitors than it is to help pay for the education of your children.
