All that money in the bank and the town looks like we can’t or won’t celebrate Christmas. You know that holiday the borough workers get paid for but don’t work? And what does that wooden animal sign mean in front of the borough building? Half the kids are laughing and the other half can’t figure it out. Not to mention those of us who grew up in the U.S.A. before all the idiots got politically correct (whatever that means) and we had a town Christmas tree, not a “holiday tree” or no tree.

If we are so broke we can’t show Christmas in our town, maybe borough workers better work that day and the borough assembly, too. Just another day in Haines.

Personally I am ashamed of Haines. Celebrate whatever holiday you want, but don’t take pay for one we can’t decorate for. Thanks to the hard-pressed businesses and residents for their decorations and the folks at Fort Seward, especially the families of Mimi and Ted Gregg and Carl and Betty Heinmiller.
