The Haines Borough’s annual hazardous waste cleanup event offers residents a rare opportunity to safely dispose of nasty household waste, for free.
It starts 8 a.m. Friday, July 18 at the old public works shop on Union Street at Sixth Avenue.
Paints, poisons, fuel, oil, antifreeze, batteries, cleaning agents and pesticides are among materials that will be accepted until 4 p.m. or until containers are full. Call 766-2231, ext. 31, for more information.
