On behalf of the entire marine biology class and teacher Mark Fontenot, we would like to say thanks to Glen, Alison and Libby Jacobson of Alaska Fjordlines. They generously offered us 15 seats on the Fjordland for a Lynn Canal whale watching tour. We really appreciated the chance to spend the afternoon outdoors actively observing marine wildlife in its natural habitat. We saw whales (one student’s first sightings!), sea lions and seabirds galore. Captain Glen’s running commentary was intriguing and taught us a lot. It was cool that the National Geographic film crew and Dr. Michelle Oakley were on board with us, adding excitement and interest to the outing. The Skagway tourists that joined the trip treated our class like we were experts, which was fun. Thanks for a great trip.
