Back in Baltimore in the 1940s, if a child didn’t show up for school, a truant officer would make a visit to the home to establish the reason for the absence. Now that so many children are being homeschooled, is there any system in place among the churches, schools and borough in Haines to establish that these kids are not falling through the cracks?

Are they being taught by persons who know how to teach? Do they get any athletic or social activity in their lives? And, perhaps most importantly, are they being fed and cared for properly and not suffering from abuse of any kind?

There are terrible stories in the newspapers in the Lower 48 about this matter and I am curious to know if it is being addressed here.
