The Haines Dolphins will host a community swim meet starting 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8.

The entry fee is $2 for adults and $1 for students. There will be 23 events, a mixture of both fun events and more competitive ones. “The Dolphins will be benchmarking times during this meet, but the main focus is going to be on having a fun time and getting the community involved with the pool,” said coach Robert Butker.

Competitions will include a survival suit relay, a distance dive contest, a wet T-shirt relay and others. The pool also will be awarding punch passes to the winners of a few of the events.

Butker said all are welcome to come and participate regardless of age or experience level. Participants can come by the pool and sign up for events ahead of time. There will also be sign-ups the day of and relay teams will be formed on deck. Swimmers who don’t have a relay team but want to swim in a relay can just show up, Butker said. “Don’t worry. We’ll match you with someone!”
