The situation described in last week’s Chilkat Valley News regarding the status of the great 19-car break-in caper should have been headlined “Latest Waste of Police Time and Effort.” I’m sure that the Haines Police department followed proper procedures and had to take their time to do it right, but we all know nothing is going to come of it. The only “punishment” associated with this fiasco will be to the people who were robbed and have been unable to use their own property because it has been held as evidence.
