The Haines High School boys’ basketball team is scheduled to host a Yukon squad for a pair of games this weekend.
The match-ups are set for 7 p.m. Friday and 5:30 p.m. Saturday against Team Yukon, a traveling team that competes throughout Canada.
The Glacier Bears officially kicked off practices on Dec. 2.
Haines last hosted the Yukoners in 2012, when the exhibition games coincided with the Dick Hotch Memorial Basketball Tournament at Karl Ward Gymnasium. The Glacier Bears took 59-44 and 55-47 wins in what coach Steve Fossman called “a great series.”
Fossman said this weekend’s competition is part of an effort to add more home games to the schedule.
He said the Glacier Bears plan to have an alumni game Thursday, Dec. 26, when many graduates are back in town, before opening up the conference slate in January.
