Longtime residents can relive memories of the filming of the 1991 Walt Disney production “White Fang” during “White Fang” Night on Sept. 7 at the Chilkat Center.

The free event starts at 5 p.m. and will feature brief readings from author Jack London’s novel, community members reminiscing about their experiences during the filming, and a screening of the movie.

Davey Ozahowski, who lived in Haines this summer and worked as a kayak guide for a tour company, said he is putting together the event to express his gratitude to residents for showing him a great time.

“It’s just my gift to the community for the summer that I’ve had here and it’s hopefully something I can continue doing,” Ozahowski said.

In future years, Ozahowski, who is renting the Chilkat Center out-of-pocket, hopes to hold the event at Dalton City so people can drink beer and eat pizza amidst the film’s set.

Ozahowski said he wants the evening to be a celebration both of London and Disney, two artists whose legacies continue to inspire others.

Donations will support the Haines Animal Rescue Kennel, the Venturer Scouts and the Girl Scouts.
