The No Child Left Behind Act calls for our children to be taught by teachers that are “highly qualified” in the field they teach. Our president recognizes the need for our children to be better educated in science as we are ranked behind many other countries.
Haines Borough School District is advertising for a science/math teacher for the coming year. Patty Brown is a “highly qualified” science/math teacher that taught in her field from
1995 until 2004. She was moved to fourth grade teacher in 2004 to fill a vacancy and hasn’t been allowed to teach in her field since then. Let Patty Brown teach a subject she is passionate about and hire a fourth- grade teacher. Brown was my daughter’s science teacher.
