I contact you today to make sure you know of another loss of our constitutional rights. Our federal government has passed into law the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for this year. My concern, including the “fiscal cliff,” is Section 1021 that allows “…indefinite detention of American citizens without due process at the discretion of the president…”
We know America does not comply with our Constitution when we send troops abroad. Now our government is making public the fact that it does not comply with our Constitution on American soil! We must stand up and demand the return of our constitutional rights!
Please look at what has happened. Several websites have in-depth articles on this violation of our rights. Truthdig.com is one of the websites.
I ask the Haines Borough prepare, pass and send a resolution of non-compliance to the federal government. The resolution of non-compliance need only state the Haines Borough does not and will not comply, enforce or allow any action or enforcement that is a violation of our constitutional rights. We have done this before. The Haines Borough responded to the passage of the Patriot Act with a similar resolution.
Please consider the danger of the continued loss of our rights. Thank you for your continued hard work.
