To the editor and to all in our beautiful valley and elsewhere, this is my New Year’s wish. We are now facing the challenges of a new year and hopefully the message of Christmas will guide us through the difficulties ahead and the spirit of giving, of kindness, understanding and love will prevail. I take strength from the message of one of the most beautiful songs still cherished in my memory. It tells me what we have and asks us to keep it. “Oh beautiful, for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, for purple mountains majesty above the fruitful plains. America, America, God spread his grace on thee. Let us crown this good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.”

A happy and rewarding new year to all.
