Sunday, Sept. 11

A caller reported their backpack stolen from the Fort Seward area while they were at work.

Saturday, Sept. 10

A caller reported a dead bear at a local beach. State troopers were advised.

A caller reported three youths who drove by in a truck shot at her residence with a BB gun in the Fort Seward area. Officers made contact with the youths, and parents came to the police station to pick them up. Police said four minors were involved, and the case is under investigation.

A caller reported a mother bear with two cubs on Front Street.

Friday, Sept. 9

A caller reported a bear in their trash on Small Tracts Road.

A caller reported the fence of a downtown business was blown down and partially in the road.

A caller reported a boat had taken on water and was sinking at the harbor.

Thursday, Sept. 8

A caller reported hearing three gunshots the previous night on Mud Bay Road. Officers made contact with the shooters, who said they shot over a bear’s head to scare it away. The residents were advised to call the police station if they have a bear problem, and to not fire a gun in city limits.

Wednesday, Sept. 7

A caller reported a reckless driver downtown, and an officer issued the driver a warning for not using a turn signal.

Police responded to a domestic violence call on the north side of town and took one person into custody for assault.

Tuesday, Sept. 6

An officer reported a fallen tree and two rock slides on Lutak Road near town.

A caller reported a mudslide at 19.5 Mile Haines Highway.

A caller reported a bear walking toward their house on Mud Bay Road. An officer responded and chased the bear away.

A caller reported a bear in their trash downtown at some point during the night. Another caller reported a bear had broken into a dumpster downtown.

A caller reported a skiff sank in the Letnikof harbor but was still tied to the dock.

There were 19 medical calls and five calls about dogs.
