Lisa Moore, internationally known quilter and pattern designer, led a quilting retreat at Haines Senior Center July 20-21. Two dozen quilters, including ones from Florida, Sitka, and Carcross and Whitehorse, Y.T. participated. Moore, an engineer by trade, has developed her own stitch patterns, including one of flying geese. “They’re very labor intensive, but they’re awesome,” said Joyce Carson, a visiting quilter from Pocatello, Idaho. Moore lives in Sitka.
