Community Clean-up is scheduled for May 5th through May 14th. The Haines Chamber of Commerce is organizing a community Cinco de Mayo Festival to kick off the event.
In prior years, Community Waste Solutions has provided disposal for the annual Community Clean-up free of charge. With the rising cost of solid waste disposal, Community Waste Solutions is unable to continue to offer free disposal services. We are asking businesses to participate in clean-up and the Cinco de Mayo kickoff event by sponsoring bags for the volunteers to use. Each bag is $1, which is a direct pass-through to CWS. Community members will be able to pick up the free/business-sponsored bags at the Cinco de Mayo event, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 5.
