A caller reported unsupervised, small children at the skate park. A parent picked up the children, and police referred the incident to the Office of Children’s Services.

Firefighters responded to a campfire on Lutak Road reportedly out of control.

Saturday, April 7

A caller reported a rock broke a window at a Main Street business. The previous night, two callers to 911 reported a person broke a window at the Sheldon Museum. Police said the museum window likely was punched in and the two incidents may be related.

A caller reported two planes flew low over the highway at 33 Mile. Troopers forwarded information to the Federal Aviation Administration.

An officer issued a verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Friday, April 6

An officer assisted troopers by responding to a caller at 10 Mile Lutak Road who reported hearing gunshots. The officer located a group of people who said they were shooting off bottle rockets and a BB gun.

Troopers were notified of a reported violation of a protective order.

A caller reported a resident drove drunk the previous day and week.

A caller from the Haines School reported a theft, and school officials handled discipline of a student. Police estimated the value of the item at $100.

Thursday, April 5

The recycling center reported a large amount of trash littered on their property.

A resident reported a person entered their upper Young Road home but nothing was missing.

A caller reported a transformer at the top of Young Road had blown and caught a pole on fire. The fire department was dispatched and Alaska Power and Telephone also responded.

Wednesday, April 4

An out-of-town caller requested assistance for a patient flying into Haines who needed a ride home.

A caller reported a vehicle damaged on Fourth Street during winter, possibly by a snowplow.

A caller requested extra patrols at an unoccupied, downtown business they own, saying they suspected an intruder.

Tuesday, April 3

A caller reported an erratic driver swerving on Young Road. An officer responded, and the truck was not located.

There were 11 medical calls and one call about dogs.
